First steps
A quick tour of the things worth trying in your first ten minutes with Peppermint.
Open the command palette
Press Ctrl + K (Cmd + K on macOS) and start typing. You can fuzzy-search tabs, history, bookmarks, settings and actions.
Pick your ad-blocking level
Peppermint blocks ads and trackers out of the box at the Medium level. Open Settings → Ad blocking to switch to Light or Heavy, or use the site panel to change it for a single site. Read more in Ad blocking.
Take a note
Type mint://note in the address bar to open MintNotes, a markdown notepad that lives right inside the browser.
Create a snippet
Open Settings → URL Snippets and add a shortcut, for example yt for https://youtube.com. Then type >yt in the address bar. See URL snippets.
Choose your homepage
Your new tab can show the built-in homepage, a blank page or a custom URL. Pick the stat cards you like in Settings → Homepage. See Homepage.
Decide about the Janitor
The first time you run Peppermint, it asks whether you want the Janitor to free up disk space on every launch. It is optional, and you can change your mind at any time.
Browse on battery
Switch on Underpowered Mode from the toolbar when you are running low on power or memory.
